Back to School for Voice Founder
We’re on the hunt for top design interns at this year’s Plymouth College of Art & Uni Summer Shows.
Voice co-founder Nick Dellanno is heading back to his old college tonight in a bid to unearth the region’s brightest and best designers to join our team. After winning Best Creative Project at the 2013 Cornwall Hub Awards and Most Creative Design at the 2014 Cornwall Business Awards for the branding and design work on Looe Music Festival, business has increased dramatically.
Nick explains: ‘Where possible we adopt a South West first policy for all our suppliers, and when we’re recruiting we always try to encourage local response. It’s important for the local economy and there’s an amazing pool of creative skills in Cornwall & Devon so it makes good business sense to tap in to that. In recent years, Plymouth College of Art and Plymouth University have been turning out some really strong graduates. We want to offer young people with potential the chance to become tomorrow’s top designers. The Voice Intern Programme (VIP), gives 2nd year and graduate students real commercial experience on exciting live projects from day one. You get paid and you don’t just end up making endless cups of tea – though the odd one would be nice.’
Nick studied Graphic Design under Plymouth tutors Helen Marks and Patti Frost, and went on to graduate at The Surrey Institute of Art and Design (now part of UCA). He attributes a large part of his success to a design course that placed analytical thinking and practical skills firmly at the heart of the syllabus.
Nick adds: ‘Everyone from Voice, not just the designers, is going to the Summer Show because it’s such an important local showcase. We’re looking forward to meeting the next generation of creative thinkers.
If you’re not at the show but would like to be considered, or know a 2nd year or grad student who could be suitable for VIP, please call Nick on 01579 349 910 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
