Google’s latest update has been dubbed ‘Mobilegeddon’ as businesses big and small fight for search survival. See if your website passes their new mobile-friendly test.  Not there yet? Don’t worry, Voice Group can help – we’ve been building mobile-friendly websites since 2009.

Google has started rolling out its biggest ever mobile search algorithm change – and the impact is already being felt everywhere. (See this Channel 4 report.) From now on, mobile-friendly websites will be rewarded with higher placings in Google’s search results. If your website hasn’t been optimised for mobile, you may see traffic to it falling dramatically.

Google say they’re simply responding to major changes in consumer behaviour: As people increasingly search on their mobile devices, we want to make sure they can find content that’s not only relevant and timely, but also easy to read and interact with on smaller mobile screens.’  Though the warning signs have been there for years now, it’s still caught many people on the hop. Recent research by The Search Agency UK, discovered that 39 of the Footsie 100 websites had no mobile website at all. Other notable mobile-unfriendlies include David Beckham, The British Monarchy, some sections of and the European Union.

So you’re not alone if you haven’t acted yet. But with 50% and rising of all web traffic now coming via mobile, (even more if you’re in the tourist business) you can’t afford to delay any longer. Here’s how to get started…
