Looe Music Festival Awarded £149k Cash Boost

LMF 2015 could be the biggest and best yet – and we’re proud to be a part of it.

This week saw an announcement that could see Looe take a bigger stage on the festivals scene this year – the arrival of £149,000 worth of investment from the Coastal Communities Fund. And at Voice, we couldn’t have put our feelings any better than LMF Charity Trustee, Tanya Brittain did. “We are ridiculously excited to finally be able to bring our ambitious plans to fruition, with the support of Coastal Communities Funding. Looe Music Festival can now realise its true potential.” Amen to that.

Penny Mordaunt, the Coastal Communities Minister, was clearly suitably impressed by her visit to South East Cornwall last year – which included a brief excursion to the Voice office in Liskeard. As she says, “Fantastic projects like these demonstrate the creativity, enterprise and passion needed to help seaside towns become year-round destinations that people are proud to live and work in.”

The story got Headline billing in The Cornish Guardian, and it was front page news in the Cornish Times, with Cornwall Councillor for East Looe, Armand Toms declaring it: “Great news for Looe Music Festival and the town. It is well deserved as this event brings a lot of visitors to the town”.

The government initiative is aimed at helping some of the UK’s thousands of seaside towns and villages create enterprise, by boosting culture and tourism, attracting investment, and boosting job opportunities. Which now looks sure to happen in Looe. As Tanya explains:

“This particular project has been almost two years in development, and finding out that our bid has been successful is the most significant moment in the charity’s history. It transforms our organisation into a fully-focused and properly resourced cultural tourism asset for our town. We’re looking forward to recruiting our new team, and to working closely with our fund manager and other local organisations to make our plans a reality.”

We’re thrilled that one of our clients – and more importantly, our local cultural scene – has received the recognition it deserves, and official backing to match. And whatever new excitement it may bring, as LMF sponsors and brand managers, we’re proud to be a part of it.
