Penny Mordaunt MP visits Voice Group to see how good web design can revive the high street

New Minister for Communities, MP Penny Mordaunt, popped in to our offices this afternoon for a chat about how the internet can help rather than hinder high street shops feeling the pinch.

Penny was particularly interested in the work we’ve been doing for Liskeard’s business, retail and tourist sectors as a result of the winning Mary Portas Town Team bid. We explained the problem many towns often have with  numerous small websites all competing for attention and offering incomplete information for the user. Voice Group created three interlinking websites for tourists, businesses and local government which work together seamlessly from the user perspective – providing all the information you need, all in one place under a clear, forward-looking town identity.

Community involvement has been crucial from the start. Traders are being trained to edit their own web pages and encourage online visitors into their high street stores using special offers and great photography to advertise their wares.  The results have been encouraging…

The Centre for Local Economic Strategies has reported that the Town Team venture had “changed perceptions and confidence in Liskeard” and was “an ideal foundation for future high street development and projects in the area”.
