Beach Retreats are the self-catering arm of the world famous Watergate Bay perched  on Cornwall’s stunning North Coast, alongside Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall. They market unique properties that are only steps away from the sand. In 2014, they commissioned Voice to update, redesign and redevelop their website to meet three key business aims:

  1. increase portfolio under management;
  2. appeal to their key audience of time precious rather than value-driven holiday seekers after active relaxation; and
  3. ensure a truly intuitive customer journey from homepage to booking on desktop, tablet and mobile.

Working closely with Beach Retreats’ marketing team, and Liskeard-based videographers Studio Wallop, Voice Group created a new website to emulate the look and feel of the outstanding coastal locations of its exclusive portfolio of properties, so that guests could visualise their holiday before they arrive. From the owners’ perspective, a smoother sign-up process and easier content management system ensured that new properties were live within two weeks of signed contract.

Importantly, given the traffic profile of 30% mobile and 40%, each iteration of design was rigorously tested on multiple devices to ensure it looked beautiful and worked logically. The new site launched in April 2015 in time for the summer rush. Something’s working…
